TRIO Chapter Activity Report
Philadelphia Chapter - Sept 2008
TRIO Philadelphia President, Elizabeth Rubin, reports that, although her chapter is not holding meetings and organizing its own chapter-sponsored events, a number of chapter members regularly participate in TRIO-sponsored and other transplant-related activities/events. Some of the 30 paid members are among those who attended and competed at the U.S. Transplant Games in Pittsburgh this year as members of Team Philadelphia, several bringing back gold, silver and bronze medals. Many also regularly speak and/or attend donor awareness events scheduled by the local OPO, Gift of Life Donor Program and act as instructors at the speaker's training classes for new volunteers. Some of them have seen every one of the transplant movies shown at the quarterly Transplant Movie Night events held at Gift of Life Donor Program offices, where this TRIO sponsored event originated. TRIO Philadelphia members are among workshop speakers at the ITNS and TRIO conferences, and have also contributed special "Thank You" letters to transplant nurses as part of the letter-writing campaign developed for the TRIO/ITNS Symposium by TRIO Philadelphia member Jim Gleason.
Plans continue to revitalize the TRIO Philadelphia chapter over the next calendar year.
