Alex has lived all his life in western Pa. Alex is a retired public school educator; he retired after 35 years having been a guidance counselor most of his career; he also was acting high school principal and superintendent for brief periods of time. Alex was in charge of the school districts special education program for many years and LEA representative Alex wrote many proposals for state and federal funding. He worked with the Pa. Dept of Education to evaluate the special education programs submitted to the state and approve/disapprove them. Alex has been active in Boys Scouts, serving as cub master; also as president of Football Booster Club on both high school and midget league level. He also has been very active in his church; he currently is serving fourth term as Deacon.

Alex received a liver transplant Feb 11. 1994. Since then his passion has been transplant related activities; he has been very active in TRIO Pittsburgh Chapter and served as President for five years. Alex also has volunteered at UPMC in their transplant program. He also has been a speaker for CORE the local OPO and involved in their Volunteers for Life Program. He has worked with area churches to promote organ donation during National Organ Donation Sabbath. Alex is always available to speak to anyone e with questions about organ donation and transplantation issues.

Alex also has been an active member of TRIO International and currently is on the Executive Board as well as being Chapter Council President.
