Many people have asked, "What is Donate Life Day and what is the format for the event?"
Here are the answers: Donate Life Day is a one-day event that will be held at the Jacksonville Landing. We will feature live music on two stages, by Laurel Lee & the Escapees, Longfellow Street, Something Distant, Ron Rodriguez and the Repeat Offenders, Hugh Jengine & the Lugnuts, Johari, Mandy Joy, Joe Thames, Bofus, Gary Robertson, Audrey Lee Johnson, the Knotty Pines, the Pignotti Project, and more! WJXT-TV Channel 4's news personalities will emcee the event; Jaxson de Villle & the ROAR cheerleaders will attend, and we'll have activities for kids. There will be a silent auction to benefit TRIO (Transplant Recipients International Organization), a non-profit corporation that provides assistance and advocacy to individuals and families going through transplant processes.
We will also feature profiles of organ sharing and speakers from the medical community who will provide information concerning the organ donation process. Most importantly, you can easily register as an organ/eye/tissue donor at Donate Life Day. You can even have the organ donor designation added to your driver's license on the spot! The Bloodmobile and the FLOWmobile (Florida License on Wheels) will both be parked in front of the Landing to accommodate you.
In addition, several key entities involved in providing organ donation related services will be there to provide information: TRIO, Southeast Tissue Alliance, LifeQuest, the North Florida Blood Alliance, the Big Fun Box, and others.
