Announcing a passing
the baton for TRIO Youth Circle leadership.
Muran Veniszee and Josh Morrison are forming a new leadership team for the TRIO Youth Circle.
By way of introduction here is a brief summary - click on the name or photo to link and see their full story . . .
From his home in New Jersey, Muran has had to deal with congenital heart issues since birth culminating with a life saving heart and liver transplant in 2010 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. He is president, founder and CEO of "Hearts N Hand" - a transplant patient support organization in the making. As Muran tells it: "After beating some impossible odds, I'm back, and when all else is equal, I'm the difference."
Josh is currently practicing law with a corporate law firm in Boston MA, He offered himself as an altruistic kidney donor in 2011 and now wants to get involved with public policy work relating to organ donation and transplantation, starting with TRIO's Youth Circle.
Past TRIO Youth Circle leaders have included . . .
Mary Wu (click on each name to read their full stories), two time kidney recipient and budding author, along with liver recipient, Julie Bonn, have taken over where Valen and Holly have left off, using the foundation they built for the Youth Circle as a starting point for an exciting time of growth and service development for the youth community.
A note from our new Youth Circle Coordinator, Mary Wu::
As a two-time kidney transplant recipient who had my first transplant at age 6 and my second transplant at age 12, both my family and I are all too familiar with the health challenges that a child and then teenager must face and overcome and, yet, there is so much more to us as individuals rather than only an illness. It has been 16 years (and counting!!) since my second kidney transplant and I am very actively involved in educating the public on the power of organ and tissue donation through public speaking, volunteerwork, and my passion and work in writing.
My mission for TRIO Youth Circle is to provide ongoing information, inspiration, and support to young transplant recipients and candidates and their family members/caregivers. It is important that young transplant recipients/candidates and their caregivers to know that they are not alone and that TRIO Youth Circle is an outlet of support. Above all else, TRIO Youth Circle is not above "ME," but it is about "WE." "WE" work together as a team to provide all that ongong support, resources, and inspiration above and beyond! It is an honor to serve as TRIO Youth Circle Co-Captain and I always welcome and am excited to hear all about you and your views, so please feel free to reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org or 917-968-8856 or check out my book blog "Confessions or a Kidney Transplant Recipient" at http://kidneyconfessions.blogspot.com. Let us rock and roll in making the TRIO Youth Circle the best out there from the best in all of us together as a team!!
